Textile Studies - Medieval Embroidery - Design Library - ACL Fieldlog Textiles

Textile piece from the medieval era found at the Museum of London.

This is displayed in an easy to miss place near the plaque exhibition but hang out of the light at the back wall of a glass cabinet. Well worth looking out for as it is difficult to phiotograph due to the lighting. Scroll down for a little video of this medieval embroidery.

Museum of London Description:
" Orphrey Fragment, early 1500s"
Used as a decorative border for an ecclesiastical vestment, this fragment was made in a professional embroidery workshop. Few medieval vestments have survived because most were burnt during the Reformation to extract the gold and silver threads. Made in the Low Countries
